La presidenta de la Cámara de Representantes de los Estados Unidos, Nancy Pelosi , una demócrata , ha representado al distrito desde enero de 2013. Ha representado a la ciudad de San Francisco desde 1987. A partir de 2013, el distrito 12 está completamente dentro de San Francisco , abarcando la mayoría de los ciudad. [3]
Antes de la redistribución de distritos por parte de la Comisión de Redistribución de Distritos de Ciudadanos de California de 2011, el distrito consistía en la mayor parte del condado de San Mateo y parte del suroeste de San Francisco. Historia
Cuando se creó el distrito después del censo de 1930 , estaba ubicado en el condado de Los Ángeles . Sin embargo, a medida que la población de California creció, el distrito generalmente se trasladó hacia el norte, eventualmente a la península de San Francisco. [4]
Richard Nixon , quien posteriormente se desempeñaría como el 37º presidente de los Estados Unidos , representó a este distrito de 1947 a 1951. Nancy Pelosi , la actual presidenta de la Cámara , es la actual representante del distrito. Anteriormente había trabajado en el octavo distrito del Congreso de California de 1993 a 2013.
