Fue creado en 1933 con la abolición del distrito rural de Bath y del distrito rural de Keynsham.
En 1974 fue abolido en virtud de la Ley de Gobierno Local de 1972 , pasando a formar parte del distrito de Wansdyke, que a su vez fue abolido en 1996 con la creación de Bath y North East Somerset .
