La infanta Beatriz protegió y alentó a Gil Vicente , dramaturgo portugués, considerado el padre del teatro portugués .
Fundó el monasterio de las Religiosas da Conceição , en Beja , donde fue enterrado su marido.

En 1447, Beatriz se casó con su primo Infante Fernando (portugués: Fernando ), segundo duque de Viseu , hijo del rey Eduardo de Portugal (su tío). De este matrimonio, tuvieron diez hijos:
Infante João (1448-1472), tercer duque de Viseu , segundo duque de Beja , séptimo condestable de Portugal .
Infante Diogo (1450-1484), cuarto duque de Viseu , tercer duque de Beja ;
La infanta Leonor de Viseu (1458-1525), casada con el rey Juan II de Portugal , convirtiéndose en reina de Portugal;
La infanta Isabel de Viseu (1459-1521), casada con Fernando II, duque de Braganza ;
Infante Duarte de Viseu (1462 - murió en la infancia);
Infante Dinis de Viseu (1464 - murió en la infancia);
Infanta Catarina de Viseu (1465 - murió en la infancia);
Infante Simão de Viseu (1467 - murió en la infancia);
Infante Afonso de Viseu (1468 - murió en la infancia);
Infante Manuel (1469-1521), quinto duque de Viseu , cuarto duque de Beja . Se convirtió en rey de Portugal , como Manuel I, tras la muerte de su primo ( Juan II ).
