El Instituto de Gestión y Administración Pública de Ghana ( GIMPA ) es una universidad pública mixta distribuida en cuatro campus (Accra, Tema, Kumasi y Takoradi) y compuesta por seis escuelas, diez centros de investigación ubicados en Greenhill en Accra , Ghana. [1] La ubicación de GIMPA, Greenhill, fue nombrada por Nicholas T. Clerk (1930 - 2012), quien se desempeñó como Rector del Instituto de 1977 a 1982. [2] [3] El nombre, "Greenhill", es un referencia a la exuberante vegetación y la topografía montañosa del campus principal, así como a su ubicación en Legon, que históricamente estaba en la periferia de la capital de Ghana, Accra. [3] Junto con 200 instituciones estatales, GIMPA participó con éxito en un Programa de Reforma del Sector Público bajo los auspicios del Banco Mundial y se convirtió en una institución autofinanciada como parte del Programa Nacional de Reforma Institucional en 2001. Fue establecida como una universidad pública por una ley del Parlamento en 2004. El instituto fue establecido en 1961 por el Gobierno de Ghana con la asistencia del Proyecto del Fondo Especial de las Naciones Unidas y se llamó inicialmente Instituto de Administración Pública, destinado a ser una escuela de posgrado de formación especializada para funcionarios públicos en Ghana . [4] En la actualidad, GIMPA ofrece programas de licenciatura, maestría y maestría ejecutiva en administración de empresas, emprendimiento, derecho, administración pública, gestión del desarrollo, gobernanza, liderazgo y tecnología.
