El Trofeo Harry Sunderland se otorga anualmente al jugador del partido en la Gran Final de la Superliga . Nombrado en honor a Harry Sunderland , quien fue administrador de la liga de rugby australiana tanto en Australia como en el Reino Unido , el trofeo se otorgó por primera vez en la final del campeonato de la liga de rugby de la temporada 1964–65 tras la muerte de Sunderland. [1] [2] Después de la temporada 1972-73, el sistema de play-off se abandonó cuando la Liga pasó a dos divisiones. El uso del trofeo continuó en la Premier League de Rugby y en la Premier League de la Superliga.finales hasta la Super League III , cuando se reintrodujo un sistema de play-off para determinar la Champions hasta la Gran Final .
El ganador del trofeo lo determina la Asociación de Escritores de la Rugby League y se presenta en el campo inmediatamente después de la conclusión del partido.
