Esta es una lista de terremotos en 1968 . Sólo magnitud 6.0 o mayores terremotos aparecen en la lista. Los eventos de menor magnitud se incluyen si han causado muerte, lesiones o daños. Los eventos que ocurrieron en áreas remotas serán excluidos de la lista ya que no habrían generado un interés significativo en los medios. Todas las fechas se enumeran según la hora UTC . Las intensidades máximas se indican en la escala de intensidad de Mercalli y se obtienen de los datos ShakeMap del Servicio Geológico de los Estados Unidos (USGS) . Hubo un gran resurgimiento de la actividad en 1968. 22 terremotos de magnitud 7.0+ azotaron varias partes del planeta. El mayor de ellos fue un evento de magnitud 8,2 en Japón.En Mayo. Grandes réplicas golpearon el área después del sismo principal. Nueva Zelanda e Indonesia experimentaron algunos trastornos durante el año. La alta actividad contribuyó a más de 12.000 muertes en todo el mundo. La gran mayoría de este total fue causada por un evento destructivo en Irán en agosto con casi 10.500 muertes. Los eventos en Filipinas , Italia e Indonesia también tuvieron muertes significativas.
