El horror natural (también conocido como características de las criaturas ) es un subgénero de las películas de terror que presenta fuerzas naturales, [1] típicamente en forma de animales o plantas , que representan una amenaza para los personajes humanos.
Aunque los animales asesinos en el cine han existido desde el lanzamiento de El mundo perdido en 1925, [2] dos de las primeras películas en obtener un gran éxito con una premisa de "naturaleza enloquecida" fueron Los pájaros , dirigida por Alfred Hitchcock y estrenada en 1963. ; y Tiburón , dirigida por Steven Spielberg y estrenada en 1975.
