3 Beat Productions es un sello discográfico independiente británico fundado por Jon Barlow en 1989.

Historia [ editar ]

3 Beat Music fue fundada como una tienda de discos de música dance en 1989 por Jon Barlow, Dave Nicholl, Phil Southall y más tarde se unieron Phil Beddard y Hywell Williams [1], que eran estudiantes en ese momento. [2] Comenzó como un puesto de discos de segunda mano en Quiggins , Liverpool y más tarde se trasladó a una ubicación permanente en Wood Street, donde la tienda estaba dirigida por Rob Jay y Pezz 3 Beat, donde ganó numerosos premios, incluida la tienda de discos independiente de Music Week de la año. [1]En 2002, la tienda se expandió y se mudó a Slater Street. A partir de 2009, la tienda de discos cambió de propietario y ya no forma parte del grupo 3 Beat. Los nuevos propietarios [que eran ex empleados de 3 Beat] querían mantener una conexión con la historia de la tienda al mismo tiempo que mostraban que las cosas habían avanzado, así que cambiaron el nombre a 3B Records. En 1991, Barlow, Nichol y Southall fundaron el sello discográfico independiente 3 Beat Music, que lanzó discos de artistas como D: Fuse , New Atlantic , Pianoman y Powerhouse . En 2000, Jon Barlow, Pezz 3 Beat y Andy Jarrod crearon la empresa 3 Beat Label Management, que ofrecía servicios de distribución a numerosos sellos discográficos independientes. [4] [5] El más notable de ellos fue el sello 'Border Community' de James Holden, que contrarrestó la tendencia a la disminución de las ventas de vinilos al vender constantemente más de 20.000 unidades de sus lanzamientos de sencillos de 12 ". 3 Beat Label Management cerró en 2007 después de El colapso de Amato Distribution los dejó con una deuda inmanejable [6]

En 2003, Jon Barlow y Pezz, junto con el ejecutivo de A&R Anton Powers y el gerente de sello Tim Condran, crearon Boss Records, con distribución de Ministry of Sound. [7] Durante los siguientes cuatro años, el sello lanzó numerosos sencillos con éxitos de artistas como Angel City, Aaron Smith, Mason versus Princess Superstar y Studio B. En 2007, después de que el contrato de Boss Records había expirado con Ministry of Sound, Barlow y Pezz fundaron 3 Beat Productions con distribución de Universal . [8] El nuevo sello estaba formado por dos sub-sellos 3 Beat Blue y 3 Beat Red y ha lanzado discos de artistas como Agnes , Cahill , Ian Carey , Duck Sauce y Skepta..

En 2011, el sello logró su primer single número uno en el Reino Unido con " Loca People " de Sak Noel .
