La Copa Mundial de Fútsal de la FIFA es el campeonato internacional de fútbol sala , la versión de fútbol sala bajo techo organizado por la FIFA . El torneo del campeonato mundial se celebra cada cuatro años, en el año par entre dos Copas del Mundo de fútbol . El primer evento se llevó a cabo en 1989 . Se llevó a cabo en los Países Bajos para conmemorar la popularidad del juego allí. El actual campeón es Argentina , que ganó su primer título en el torneo de 2016 en Colombia. La próxima Copa Mundial de Fútbol Sala de la FIFA tendrá lugar en 2021 en Lituania .
Todos los eventos antes de 2008 habían sido eventos de 16 equipos. El primer evento contó con 6 equipos de Europa , 3 de América del Sur , 2 de África , 2 de Asia , 2 de América del Norte y Central y 1 de Oceanía . Desde 2012 , incluye 24 equipos que se dividieron en un torneo round-robin de seis grupos , con cuatro equipos en cada grupo. Los dos mejores equipos de cada grupo, junto con los 4 finalistas en tercer lugar mejor clasificados, avanzaron a una serie final eliminatoria de dieciséis equipos .

FIFA Champions Badge[edit]
In 2012, FIFA extended the FIFA Champions Badge to the winners of the competition, where it was first won by Brazil.[1]
