La nueva temporada se centra en los estudiantes de una escuela de medicina en la Universidad ficticia de Winston, en lugar de los internos en un hospital. Los doctores Perry Cox y Christopher Turk , interpretados por John C. McGinley y Donald Faison respectivamente, regresaron como maestros. El lugar de rodaje del programa se trasladó del North Hollywood Medical Center a los decorados de Culver Studios . Producción
El creador del programa, Bill Lawrence, quería cambiar el nombre del programa a Scrubs Med , pero ABC no lo permitió. El escenario cambió del edificio original del hospital a una nueva escuela de medicina y campus universitario del Sagrado Corazón, y los lugares de rodaje se trasladaron a Culver Studios.
