Pyrgospira ostrearum, common name the oyster turrid, is a species of sea snail, a marine gastropod mollusk in the family Pseudomelatomidae.[1]
The shell is concavely, rather narrowly shouldered, with a thread-like raised line at the suture. It is closely longitudinally ribbed below the periphery and decussated by raised revolving lines. The color of the shell is dingy yellow to purplish black. [2]
Esta especie se encuentra en el Mar Caribe , el Golfo de México y frente a las Antillas Menores ; en el Océano Atlántico desde Carolina del Norte , EE. UU., hasta el este de Brasil ; se han encontrado fósiles en estratos cuaternarios en Florida , EE. UU. y en Panamá ; rango de edad: 1.806 a 0.781 MaMa.
