El alguacil de la ciudad de Dublín tenía una función judicial y administrativa en Irlanda. Fondo
Los primeros Shrievalties se establecieron antes de la conquista normanda en 1066 y se remontan a la época sajona . [2] Además de su importancia judicial, el alguacil tenía funciones ceremoniales y administrativas y ejecutaba órdenes judiciales del Tribunal Superior. [3] En 1908, una Orden en el Consejo convirtió al Lord-Teniente en el principal representante del Soberano en un condado y redujo la precedencia del Sheriff. Dublín
Los alguaciles (dos por cada año) fueron nombrados por primera vez en Dublín en 1308 bajo el nombre de alguaciles; el título fue cambiado a alguacil en 1548. [5] Los alguaciles presidieron las reuniones del Consejo Común (los "comunes" o cámara baja de la Asamblea de la Ciudad de Dublín), y después de su año en el cargo tomaron su lugar entre hasta 48 Sheriffs Peers, que se sentaron junto a 96 representantes del Gremio como el Consejo Común.
