The global K-pop entertainment platform revealed all 20 of its participating artists individually from November 12, 2020 to July 19, 2021.
Development
Ahead of its launch day, Universe surpassed four million pre-registered users on both the App Store and Google Play.[1] As of January 21, 2021, K-pop fans from 188 countries around the world including South Korea, the United States, Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Brazil completed pre-registration with 80% of these users residing overseas.[2] Two months after its launch, Universe achieved more than five million global downloads with a total 692 exclusive contents released.[3]
Artists
IZ*ONE
Announced on November 12, 2020, girl group Iz*One was the first artist to join Universe.[4] As both the group's first release through Universe and the first project under Universe Music, Iz*One released the single "D-D-Dance" on January 26, 2021.[5]
Monsta X
On November 13, 2020, boy group Monsta X was announced as the second artist to join Universe.[6] As the group's first release through Universe, Monsta X is starring in the 10-episode Universe Original Area 51: The Code. It is updated weekly following the launch of the Universe app on January 28, 2021.[7]
The Boyz
On November 14, 2020, boy group The Boyz was announced as the third artist to join Universe.[8]
Kang Daniel
Solo artist Kang Daniel was revealed as the fourth artist to join Universe on November 15, 2020.[9] As his first release through Universe, Kang is starring in the 10-episode Universe Original Agent Blackjack K. It is updated weekly following the launch of the Universe app on January 28, 2021.[10]
(G)I-dle
Announced on November 16, 2020, girl group (G)I-dle was the fifth artist to join Universe.[11]
Ateez
On November 17, 2020, boy group Ateez became the sixth artist to join Universe.[12]
AB6IX
On November 18, 2020, boy group AB6IX became the seventh artist to join Universe.[13]
Astro
On November 19, 2020, boy group Astro was the eighth artist to join Universe.[14]
WJSN
Announced on November 20, 2020, girl group WJSN was the ninth artist to join Universe.[15]
CIX
On November 21, 2020, boy group CIX became the tenth artist to join Universe.[16]
Park Jihoon
Solo artist Park Ji-hoon was revealed as the eleventh artist to join Universe on November 22, 2020.[17]
Oh My Girl
Oh My Girl became the twelfth artist to join Universe on April 2, 2021.[18]
Cravity
Cravity became the thirteenth artist to join Universe on April 2, 2021.[18]
WEi
WEi became the fourteenth artist to join Universe on April 2, 2021.[18]
Brave Girls
Brave Girls became the fifteenth artist to join the platform on May 24, 2021.[19]
Drippin
Drippin became the sixteenth artist to join the platform on May 24, 2021.[19]
Young-jae (Got7)
Young-jae (Got7) became the seventeenth artist to join Universe on June 8, 2021.[20]
