La elección parcial de Southampton Itchen del 27 de mayo de 1971 se celebró después de que el presidente de la Cámara de los Comunes y miembro del parlamento (MP) Horace King se retirara. El escaño fue ganado por el Partido Laborista (aunque King inicialmente se había sentado como diputado laborista). Las elecciones parciales se destacaron por el sólido desempeño del Partido Nacional Demócrata de extrema derecha , que había desarrollado seguidores en el distrito electoral. [1]
