El distrito de Bargarh es un distrito administrativo del estado de Odisha en el este de la India . La ciudad de Bargarh es la sede de su distrito. El distrito fue tallado en el antiguo distrito de Sambalpur el 1 de abril de 1993.

Demographics[edit]

The district has a population of 14,81,255. 50.58% of the district is male and 49.42% female. The literacy rate is 66.42%. 20.17% and 18.98% of the population are from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes respectively.[1]

At the time of the 2011 Census of India, 76.22% of the population spoke Sambalpuri, 17.36% Odia, 2.66% Chhattisgarhi and 1.51% Hindi as their first language.[2]

Economy[edit]

All-season irrigation from Hirakud dam on the Mahanadi makes the northern half of Bargarh District rich in agriculture, mostly paddy.[4]
