1918-1950 : el distrito de Cheltenham y el distrito urbano de Charlton Kings.
1950-1983 : como 1918 pero con límites rediseñados.
1983–1997 : El distrito de Cheltenham y el distrito de Tewkesbury de Leckhampton con Up Hatherley, Prestbury St Mary's y Prestbury St Nicolas.
Leckhampton, Up Hatherley y Prestbury se agregaron al asiento de la circunscripción de Cirencester y Tewkesbury; anteriormente habían estado en el abolido distrito rural de Cheltenham.

Perfil de la circunscripción [ editar ]
Famoso por su hipódromo que alberga la Copa de Oro de Cheltenham anual en marzo, con una escuela de niñas de larga data y justo en el borde de las colinas de Cotswold , Cheltenham tiene un gran sector turístico. GE Aviation es un gran empleador y GCHQ , el centro de comunicaciones del gobierno, está aquí, por lo que la cantidad de trabajadores y profesionales altamente calificados (47,5% en el año finalizado en septiembre de 2014 [3] ) está muy por encima del promedio nacional (44,6% [3] ). Una de las ciudades más exclusivas del oeste de Inglaterra, los pocos vecindarios de niveles medios en el Índice de privación múltiple se encuentran casi en su totalidad en el barrio de Hester's Way, que tiene la mayor cantidad de viviendas sociales.. Historia [ editar ]
La circunscripción del municipio de Cheltenham se creó en la Gran Ley de Reforma de 1832 y ha devuelto nueve liberales (o demócratas liberales) y nueve conservadores al parlamento desde entonces, junto con uno independiente.
Un conservador sirvió en el distrito electoral desde 1950 hasta 1992. La campaña de los conservadores en las elecciones generales de 1992 después de los disturbios de Poll Tax vio a un miembro del partido local hacer comentarios racistas sobre su propio candidato, John Taylor , quien era de ascendencia afrocaribeña . Taylor perdió la elección ante Nigel Jones de los Demócratas Liberales .
En 2000, Jones casi fue asesinado en un horrible incidente en una de las cirugías de su diputado; un hombre lo atacó y un asistente con una espada samurái. Su colega, Andrew Pennington , murió en el ataque. Jones se convirtió en un compañero vitalicio en 2005. Los demócratas liberales celebraron Cheltenham en las elecciones de 2005 cuando Martin Horwood ganó las elecciones, y nuevamente en 2010 , pero perdieron cuando los conservadores volvieron a tomar el escaño en 2015 .
