El Instituto del Teatro de Barcelona ( español : Institut del Teatre de Barcelona ) es una institución pública dedicada a la formación en las artes escénicas, la danza clásica, contemporánea y española, así como en el teatro, el cine, la coreografía, etc. Fue creado en 1913 en Barcelona de Adrià Gual . Pertenece a la provincia de Barcelona y tiene como objetivo la docencia de las artes escénicas, la organización de congresos, conferencias, exposiciones y la investigación de cualquier forma de artes escénicas. Actualmente está dirigido por Jordi Font.

Organización
El continuo crecimiento de la institución y la complejidad de su gestión, derivado principalmente de las diversas normativas y estándares legales que se aplican en una u otra área de su actuación - asesoraron, en 1990, constituyeron la como un organismo autónomo, lo que también le permite para agilizar la gestión y mejorar la utilización de recursos. El organismo autónomo Instituto del Teatro de la Diputación de Barcelona, por tanto, está dotado de personalidad jurídica y patrimonio propio, con la capacidad de actuación necesaria para el cumplimiento de sus fines. Estos propósitos son: La educación formal y la educación no formal de las artes escénicas. La producción y organización de congresos, cursos, congresos, festivales, exposiciones y otras actividades y formación en diversas especialidades y promoción de las artes escénicas. Historia
1913-1939: de la fundación a la derrota republicana. 1913: creación de la Escola Catalana d'art Dramàtic (ECAD), en el marco del Conservatori del Liceu, a partir de 1837 (Liceu Filarmònico-Dramàtic de Montsió) por contener disciplinas dramáticas. Se trata de una de las primeras obras de Asuntos culturales de Enric Prat de la Riba, todavía de la Diputación de Barcelona. Adrià Gual es el director fundador. Su idea es articular una plataforma que aborde la educación, la investigación, la creación y la difusión, de modo que se constituya en un poderoso instrumento de modernización del panorama catalán.
1915: Autonomización de la ECAD, con un Patronato propio creado por el gobierno provincial. 1917: el Ayuntamiento de Barcelona se incorpora al Patronato, junto con la Diputación. Publicación de la "Gaceta Catalana de Arte Dramático".
