Los premios Juno de 2018 , en honor a los logros de la música canadiense, se entregaron en Vancouver , Columbia Británica, durante el fin de semana del 24 al 25 de marzo de 2018. Posibles ofertas de la ciudad anfitriona

En septiembre de 2015, la Capital Region Music Awards Society en Victoria, Columbia Británica, anunció su intención de presentar una oferta para albergar los Premios Juno 2018. Victoria hizo una oferta para albergar los Junos de 2014, pero las ceremonias de ese año se llevaron a cabo en Winnipeg. ^[7]

En abril de 2016, varios grupos en Edmonton también estaban investigando una posible oferta para los Premios Juno 2018. La ciudad fue sede de los Junos en 2004 . ^[8]

A principios de abril de 2017, Vancouver fue anunciada como anfitriona de los Premios Juno 2018 después de que concluyeran los premios de 2017. ^[9] El 19 de abril de 2017, se anunció que CBC Television se haría cargo de los derechos de transmisión de los Junos a partir de 2018, el primero desde 2001. ^[6]

Eventos

Jann Arden y Bob Rock actuaron y fueron anfitriones en el Círculo de Compositores el 25 de marzo, antes de la ceremonia principal de premios. ^[10] El partido de hockey benéfico de la Copa Juno entre músicos y exjugadores de la NHL se llevó a cabo en el Centro Deportivo Bill Copeland en Burnaby el 23 de marzo. ^[11]

Los artistas de la ceremonia principal incluyeron a Jessie Reyez , Arkells , Daniel Caesar , Lights , Arcade Fire , Dallas Green y Sarah Harmer . Nominees and winners

Barenaked Ladies are the year's inductees into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Former band member Steven Page joined the band and performed at the primary Juno ceremonies.^[20][22][23] They were inducted by Geddy Lee of Rush.^[24]

Denise Donlon, a former personality of MuchMusic and former president of Sony Music Canada, is the 2018 recipient of the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award for her contributions to the Canadian music industry.^[25]

Gary Slaight is the recipient of the Humanitarian Award. He and his father founded the Slaight Family Foundation which supports music industry and artist development, healthcare and other social causes. As of this year, the Humanitarian Award is no longer named after Allan Waters. Slaight received the Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award at the 2012 Juno Awards.^[26]
