Henry Charles Gordon (23 de diciembre de 1925 - 24 de septiembre de 1996), ( Coronel , USAF ), fue un ingeniero aeronáutico estadounidense , oficial de la Fuerza Aérea de EE . UU. , piloto de pruebas y astronauta en el programa X-20 Dyna-Soar .
Gordon nació en Valparaíso, Indiana , el 23 de diciembre de 1925. En 1950 obtuvo su título de Licenciado en Ciencias en Ingeniería Aeronáutica de la Universidad de Purdue , y en 1966 obtuvo su Maestría en Administración de Empresas de la Universidad del Sur de California . [1] Estaba casado y tenía cuatro hijos.
Gordon was in the Air Force, and flew combat missions in the Korean and Vietnam wars.[1] He was selected as an astronaut in the X-20 Dyna-Soar program in April 1962 and began training at the Air Force Flight Test Center, Edwards Air Force Base, California.[2]
He retired as an astronaut when the Dyna-Soar program was cancelled on December 10, 1963, having never flown in space. He remained in the U.S. Air Force after the Dyna-Soar program was cancelled and retired from the Air Force with the rank of Colonel.[3]
