La 14a Asamblea Nacional de Pakistán fue la legislatura de Pakistán después de las elecciones generales de 2013 de miembros del parlamento (MP) a la Asamblea Nacional de Pakistán , la cámara baja del bicameral Majlis-e-Shura . La Asamblea Nacional es un organismo elegido democráticamente que consta de 342 miembros, a los que se hace referencia como Miembros de la Asamblea Nacional (MNA), de los cuales 272 son miembros elegidos directamente; 70 escaños reservados para mujeres y minorías religiosas se asignan a los partidos políticos de acuerdo con su proporción del voto total. En la elección, cada una de las 272 circunscripciones geográficas del Parlamento devolvió un diputado a la Asamblea Nacional. Resultó en una mayoría de la Liga Musulmana de Pakistán (N) (PML-N) y una pérdida masiva de escaños para el Partido del Pueblo de Pakistán (PPP). El PML-N se convirtió en el partido más grande, aunque sin una mayoría total. El PML-N obtuvo 163 escaños en la Asamblea Nacional. [2] [3] Esto resultó en un parlamento colgado. Se formó un acuerdo de coalición luego de negociaciones con candidatos independientes que se unieron al PML-N, lo que permitió al partido formar un gobierno de mayoría simple al incorporar a diecinueve candidatos independientes, trece más que el mínimo requerido para formar un gobierno. [4]Este cambio resultó en que Nawaz Sharif se convirtiera en el nuevo Primer Ministro de Pakistán por tercera vez. [5] Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah ganó un voto de liderazgo del PPP para suceder a Nisar Ali Khan como líder permanente de la oposición. [6] Ayaz Sadiq y Murtaza Javed Abbasi de PML-N fueron elegidos como presidente y vicepresidente de la legislatura, respectivamente. [7]

Los miembros de la XIV Asamblea Nacional prestaron juramento el 1 de junio de 2013, [8] y marcaron la transición constitucional del poder de un gobierno elegido democráticamente a otro por primera vez en la historia de Pakistán. [9]

En julio de 2017, la Corte Suprema de Pakistán descalificó al primer ministro Nawaz Sharif de ser miembro de la Asamblea Nacional luego de una investigación sobre acusaciones de corrupción con respecto a la riqueza de su familia, lo que lo obligó a renunciar como primer ministro. [10] Shahid Khaqan Abbasi fue elegido por la Asamblea Nacional como nuevo Primer Ministro el 1 de agosto de 2017. [11] La 14a Asamblea Nacional se disolvió el 31 de mayo de 2018 después de completar su mandato constitucional de cinco años. [12]
