Wendell Marshall (24 de octubre de 1920, St. Louis, Missouri - 6 de febrero de 2002, St. Louis) fue un contrabajista de jazz estadounidense .
Marshall era primo de Jimmy Blanton . Estudió en la Universidad de Lincoln y luego sirvió en el ejército durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial . Después de su alta, actuó con Stuff Smith , luego se mudó a la ciudad de Nueva York , donde trabajó con Mercer Ellington . De 1948 a 1955 actuó con Duke Ellington .
Después de su tiempo con Ellington, Marshall se unió a las orquestas de Broadway y trabajó como autónomo con Mary Lou Williams , Art Blakey , Donald Byrd , Milt Jackson y Hank Jones, entre otros. Se jubiló en 1968 y murió de cáncer de colon en St. Louis, a la edad de 81 años. [1]
