Emil Richards nacido Emilio Joseph Radocchia (2 de septiembre de 1932-13 de diciembre de 2019) fue un vibrafonista y percusionista estadounidense.

Richards comenzó a tocar el xilófono a los seis años. En la escuela secundaria actuó con la Orquesta Sinfónica de Hartford . Estudió con Al Lepak en la Hartt School of Music en Hartford, y se graduó en 1952. Después de ser reclutado, perteneció a una banda del ejército en Japón y tocó con Toshiko Akiyoshi . En 1962, Richards realizó una gira mundial con Frank Sinatra para recaudar fondos para los niños pobres. La gira aumentó la fascinación de Richards por los instrumentos de percusión étnicos . [3] [7] Durante su carrera ha recopilado más de 350 instrumentos, muchos de ellos más comunes en Oriente que en Occidente. En 1992, entregó sesenta y cinco instrumentos al museo de la Sociedad de Artes Percusivas en Lawton, Oklahoma. Fue miembro del Salón de la Fama de la Sociedad.
